Lease Mileage Pace Allowance
See whether actual odometer use is ahead of or behind a straight-line contract allowance pace.
Method and units
Elapsed-term fraction = elapsed calendar days ÷ total term days, clamped to 0–1. Pace allowance = total contract allowance × fraction. Projection = start odometer + miles used ÷ elapsed days × total term days; at day zero, projection is the starting reading.
Worked example
For 30,000 allowed miles over 36 months from 2025-01-01 to 2028-01-01, a 2026-01-01 check is one-third through the term, so pace allowance is 10,000 miles. If 9,000 have been used, use is 1,000 miles under pace.
Supported inputs and interpretation
Allowance 1–1,000,000 mi; odometers 0–2,000,000 mi; valid start < end dates; check date must be within term for pace, projection is clamped. Results are rounded for display only; internal calculations retain full JavaScript precision. Entered measurements and assumptions determine the answer.
References and limitations
The equations here use the stated unit conversions and geometric or accounting relationships; no empirical vehicle limits or manufacturer presets are supplied.
Straight-line pacing is a planning comparison, not lease-contract interpretation or a bill estimate. Check the contract's exact dates, mileage rules, disposition terms and fees with the lessor.
