Parking Tariff Billing Blocks Calculator
Translate a posted block tariff into a billable block count for an entered stay duration.
Method and units
Billable minutes = max(0, stay − free minutes). First charge applies to the first block; each started minute beyond it adds a recurring block rounded up. Fee = first fee + additional blocks × rate, capped at an optional user-entered maximum.
Worked example
For 145 minutes parked, 15 free minutes, a 60-minute first block at $4 and 30-minute additional blocks at $2, billable time is 130 minutes: one first block plus three started blocks, or $10.
Supported inputs and interpretation
Stay/free time 0–100,000 min; block durations 1–10,000 min; fees and optional cap 0–$100,000; currency values rounded to cents. Results are rounded for display only; internal calculations retain full JavaScript precision. Entered measurements and assumptions determine the answer.
References and limitations
The equations here use the stated unit conversions and geometric or accounting relationships; no empirical vehicle limits or manufacturer presets are supplied.
This implements only the entered tariff interpretation. Real facilities may use entry-day boundaries, grace rules, validations, overnight caps, taxes or lost-ticket fees. Read posted terms; the calculator is not a quote or payment authority.
