Trailer Loading Ramp Angle Calculator
Estimate the geometric steepness of a straight ramp between two levels.
Method and units
Ramp length = √(rise² + run²). Angle = arctan(rise ÷ run), converted to degrees. Percent grade = rise ÷ run × 100.
Worked example
A 0.6 m rise over 2.4 m horizontal run gives a 2.474 m ramp, angle about 14.0° and 25% grade.
Supported inputs and interpretation
Rise 0–10 m; horizontal run 0.01–50 m. Results are rounded for display only; internal calculations retain full JavaScript precision. Entered measurements and assumptions determine the answer.
References and limitations
The equations here use the stated unit conversions and geometric or accounting relationships; no empirical vehicle limits or manufacturer presets are supplied.
This is geometry only. It does not evaluate ramp strength, surface, traction, load, vehicle clearance or trailer stability. Confirm equipment ratings and manufacturer/professional guidance; an angle estimate is not loading approval or evidence of safe use.
