Rental Deposit Itemized Settlement Calculator
Reconcile a proposed deposit settlement with the amounts you enter. This calculator only performs arithmetic and does not advise which deductions are permitted.
Method and assumptions
Entered-item total = cleaning + repairs + utilities + other. Arithmetic refund = max(0, deposit − entered-item total). Amount above deposit = max(0, entered-item total − deposit). The share is entered items ÷ deposit when the deposit is greater than zero.
Worked example
A $1,000 deposit and entered items of $90 cleaning, $120 repairs, and $40 utilities total $250. The arithmetic balance is $750; the listed amounts represent 25% of the deposit.
How to use the result
Treat the output as a worksheet check only. It does not decide whether a charge is lawful, reasonable, documented, timely, or collectible; check the applicable agreement and local rules or seek qualified local guidance.
Input meanings and limits
- Deposit amount: The amount being compared with itemized entries.
- Entered cleaning amount: Only enter an amount shown in your own itemization.
- Entered repair amount: A separate repair amount supplied by the user.
- Entered utility balance: A separate utility amount supplied by the user.
- Other entered itemized amount: Any other figure you want included in this arithmetic total.
Inputs accept finite, nonnegative values in the displayed ranges; percentages are bounded to 0–100% (with 99.99% maximum where division by the remaining share is used), and whole-unit or month fields require integers. Currency figures are shown in USD for convenience; enter values in one consistent currency. This is a planning worksheet, not financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice.
