Subscription Cohort Churn Revenue Calculator
Model a small recurring-revenue cohort over a chosen number of months. See how monthly churn compounds against a steady stream of new customers.
Method and assumptions
Each month, churned customers = beginning customers × monthly churn. Ending customers = beginning customers − churned customers + new customers. Monthly revenue uses the ending count × flat monthly price; cumulative revenue sums those monthly amounts. Fractional customer counts represent an expected-value projection, not literal people.
Worked example
Starting with 100 customers, adding 10 per month at 5% churn and $12 per month for 3 months gives 105, 109.75, then 114.2625 expected active customers. Ending MRR is $1,371.15; summed revenue across the three modeled months is $3,948.15.
How to use the result
Use the ending MRR and cumulative revenue together: one is a month-end run rate and the other is the modeled period total. This simplified cohort has no price changes, seasonality, reactivations, payment failures, or acquisition costs.
Input meanings and limits
- Starting active customers: Active customers at the start of month one.
- New customers added each month: Assumed constant additions at each month's end.
- Monthly churn rate: Applied to active customers at each month's start.
- Monthly revenue per customer: One flat recurring price is assumed.
- Projection length: Choose 1–1,200 months.
Inputs accept finite, nonnegative values in the displayed ranges; percentages are bounded to 0–100% (with 99.99% maximum where division by the remaining share is used), and whole-unit or month fields require integers. Currency figures are shown in USD for convenience; enter values in one consistent currency. This is a planning worksheet, not financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice.
