Batch Job Concurrency Deadline Calculator
Estimate completion time for fixed-duration parallel jobs.
Method and input definitions
Execution waves = ceil(task count ÷ concurrent slots). Estimated makespan = waves × duration per task + (waves − 1) × overhead between waves. It assumes tasks in a wave run in parallel and finish together.
Worked example
Twenty-five 12-minute tasks with 6 slots need 5 waves. With 2 minutes between waves, makespan is 5 × 12 + 4 × 2 = 68 minutes.
Assumptions and limits
Task durations are treated as equal, resources do not contend, and there is no startup before the first wave or teardown after the last. Retries are excluded.
Inputs are bounded to finite values shown in the form. Displayed results are rounded for readability (probability percentages and proportion fractions to four, other measures to two decimal places); whole-count outputs remain exact. A changed field clears a prior result so an outdated estimate is not presented as current.
