Podcast Editing Time Budget Calculator
Turn recording length into an editing-hours budget.
Method and input definitions
Editing hours = source audio hours × your editing-hours-per-audio-hour ratio + episode count × overhead minutes per episode ÷ 60. The ratio is your own workflow observation, not a preset benchmark.
Worked example
A 2.5-hour recording at 3.2 editing hours per source hour plus 20 minutes of handoff work takes 2.5 × 3.2 + 20 ÷ 60 = 8.33 hours.
Assumptions and limits
The ratio bundles your chosen edit, mix, and review work. Re-recording, publishing, and guest coordination are excluded unless included in your ratio or overhead.
Inputs are bounded to finite values shown in the form. Displayed results are rounded for readability (probability percentages and proportion fractions to four, other measures to two decimal places); whole-count outputs remain exact. A changed field clears a prior result so an outdated estimate is not presented as current.
