Track Stint & Pit Strategy Planner
Turn one fuel-use observation into a bounded stint and pit-stop schedule estimate.
Method and units
Usable fuel = tank capacity − reserve. Laps per stint = floor(usable fuel ÷ fuel per lap). Stints = ceil(total laps ÷ laps per stint), stops = stints − 1. Total time estimate = laps × lap seconds + stops × pit-loss seconds.
Worked example
With 50 L capacity, 5 L reserve and 2 L/lap, a stint covers 22 laps. A 50-lap plan needs 3 stints and 2 stops; at 90 seconds/lap and 120 seconds pit loss, modeled time is 4,740 seconds.
Supported inputs and interpretation
Laps integer 1–10,000; lap time 1–1,000 s; fuel use 0.01–100 L/lap; capacity 0.1–1,000 L; reserve below capacity; pit loss 0–3,600 s. Results are rounded for display only; internal calculations retain full JavaScript precision. Entered measurements and assumptions determine the answer.
References and limitations
The equations here use the stated unit conversions and geometric or accounting relationships; no empirical vehicle limits or manufacturer presets are supplied.
Fuel use, pit loss and lap time are user assumptions; this omits rules, safety-car periods, refueling restrictions, tire changes, traffic and strategy variability. It is not motorsport safety or race-regulation advice.
