Refund Reserve Cash Planner
Separate a user-estimated refund reserve from money already committed to bills. The refund percentage and timing are inputs, not a benchmark or prediction supplied by this tool.
Method and assumptions
Reserve target = sales × entered refund percentage. Weekly set-aside = reserve ÷ planning weeks. Cash after reserve and bills = sales − reserve − known bills. The lag view is reserve × min(1, refund lag ÷ planning period), assuming sales and expected refunds are spread evenly across the period; it is a timing illustration, not a cash-flow calendar.
Worked example
For $5,000 sales, an 8% reserve assumption gives $400. Spread evenly over four weeks, set aside $100 per week. With $250 of known bills, $4,350 remains after the reserve and bills; a two-week lag window corresponds to $200 of reserve.
How to use the result
Change the percentage and timing to test your own low/base/high scenarios. Actual refunds can differ in amount and timing, and this tool does not account for processor holds, disputes, taxes, or other obligations.
Input meanings and limits
- Sales during planning period: Use the same sales period as the expected refund percentage.
- Expected refunds as a share of sales: Your planning assumption based on your own records or scenario.
- Planning period length: Number of weeks across which to set aside reserve cash.
- Expected refund lag (weeks): Used for a simple timing view, capped at the planning period.
- Known bills from this sales period: Bills you intend to pay from the same sales cash.
Inputs accept finite, nonnegative values in the displayed ranges; percentages are bounded to 0–100% (with 99.99% maximum where division by the remaining share is used), and whole-unit or month fields require integers. Currency figures are shown in USD for convenience; enter values in one consistent currency. This is a planning worksheet, not financial, legal, tax, or accounting advice.
