Coffee Concentrate Brew Dilution Calculator
Dilute measured coffee concentrate to a chosen strength while preserving the entered soluble-solids mass.
How to use this estimate
This idealized mass-balance treats strength as a mass percentage and converts concentrate volume to mass using your entered concentrate density. Enter a measured density when available; the default 1 g/mL is a simplifying estimate, not a coffee standard. It does not prescribe caffeine intake, taste, storage, or food-safety handling.
Method
Solids mass = concentrate volume × density × concentrate strength. Final solution mass = solids mass / target strength. Added water mass = final mass - concentrate mass; divide by water density for approximate volume. Target strength may not exceed concentrate strength.
Worked example
With 250 mL concentrate at 8% mass strength and the simplifying 1 g/mL density, a selected 2% final strength requires about 750 mL water, yielding roughly 1,000 mL.
Assumptions and supported inputs
Use measured dimensions and the listed field ranges. Values outside those bounds, missing entries, non-finite numbers, and fractional counts where a whole number is required are rejected. Displayed results are rounded to two decimal places; internal calculations retain full precision. This is a planning estimate, not a substitute for an on-site layout, product instructions, or a qualified trade decision where applicable.
