Freight Loading Meter Footprint Calculator
What shared-deck area allocation corresponds to nonstackable freight footprints?
Method, formula and assumptions
Total footprint area = unit length x width x count. Area-equivalent loading meters divide that area by deck width. Add the entered area allowance and multiply by the entered charge.
Input definitions and supported units
- Footprint length per unit (m): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0.01 to 100; must be positive.
- Footprint width per unit (m): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0.01 to 100; must be positive.
- Nonstackable units: Whole-number count, from 0 to 100000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
- Usable vehicle deck width (m): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0.01 to 10; must be positive.
- Added floor-area allowance (%): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 500; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
- Entered charge per loading meter: Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
Worked example with answer
Ten 1.2 x 0.8 m units occupy 9.6 m2. At a 2.4 m deck width they equal 4 loading meters; 10% allowance gives 4.4 m and 220 currency at 50 per loading meter.
How to use the results
Area-equivalent loading meters are a quoting convention, not a packing solution. Awkward footprints can require more actual vehicle length.
Results retain full precision internally and display up to four decimal places. Very small nonzero results use scientific notation rather than appearing as zero. Check the labels before comparing values across units.
Limitations and references
No carrier tariff, weight conversion, securing plan or stackability judgment is supplied. Confirm actual loading and contractual billing rules.
The method is a self-contained arithmetic, geometric or explicitly stated mathematical model. There are no imported tariffs, empirical presets or equipment specifications; measured values and allowances must come from your own process.
