Order Unit and Line Fill Rate Calculator
How do unit fill and fully complete line fill tell different stories about one fulfillment wave?
Method, formula and assumptions
Unit fill = shipped first-release units/ordered units. Complete-line fill = fully filled first-release lines/eligible lines. Report the gap in percentage points, not percent relative change.
Input definitions and supported units
- Total ordered units: Whole-number count, from 1 to 1000000000; must be positive.
- Units shipped on first release: Whole-number count, from 0 to 1000000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
- Total eligible order lines: Whole-number count, from 1 to 1000000; must be positive.
- Lines completely filled on first release: Whole-number count, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
Worked example with answer
950 of 1,000 units is 95% unit fill. 80 fully complete lines out of 100 is 80% line fill, leaving 50 units and 20 incomplete lines; the rate gap is 15 percentage points.
How to use the results
A strong unit fill can coexist with many incomplete small lines. Both measures must use the same eligibility window and first-release definition.
Results retain full precision internally and display up to four decimal places. Very small nonzero results use scientific notation rather than appearing as zero. Check the labels before comparing values across units.
Limitations and references
No service-level target is prescribed. Cancellations, substitutions, backorder releases and order-level perfect-order metrics require separately defined rules.
The method is a self-contained arithmetic, geometric or explicitly stated mathematical model. There are no imported tariffs, empirical presets or equipment specifications; measured values and allowances must come from your own process.
