Slow Motion Playback Conform Calculator

What playback length results when every captured frame is conformed to a slower timeline?

Measured values and planning assumptions
Supported: 0.1 to 10000.
Supported: 0.1 to 10000.
Supported: 0 to 1000000.
Supported: 0 to 1000000000; whole numbers.

Method, formula and assumptions

Captured frames = floor(capture FPS x captured seconds). Subtract discarded frames, then divide retained frames by timeline FPS. Conform assumes one captured frame becomes one timeline frame.

Input definitions and supported units

  • Capture frame rate (frames/s): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0.1 to 10000; must be positive.
  • Timeline frame rate (frames/s): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0.1 to 10000; must be positive.
  • Capture duration (seconds): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Captured frames discarded before conform: Whole-number count, from 0 to 1000000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.

Worked example with answer

Ten seconds at 120 fps contains 1,200 whole frames. With no trim and a 24 fps timeline, playback lasts 50 seconds and the frame-rate factor is 5x.

How to use the results

The factor describes frame-rate conform, not optical-flow synthesis. Trimming can make the final duration shorter without changing that factor.

Results retain full precision internally and display up to four decimal places. Very small nonzero results use scientific notation rather than appearing as zero. Check the labels before comparing values across units.

Limitations and references

Assumes constant frame rates and no audio retiming. Camera metadata, fractional rates and timeline rounding can change exact displayed timecode.

The method is a self-contained arithmetic, geometric or explicitly stated mathematical model. There are no imported tariffs, empirical presets or equipment specifications; measured values and allowances must come from your own process.
