Returned Goods Disposition Recovery Calculator

What expected recoverable value remains after restock, repair and disposal paths?

Measured values and planning assumptions

Method, formula and assumptions

Allocate mutually exclusive restock and repair shares; the remaining share is disposal. Recovery = saleable-path units x recoverable value - repair labor/material cost - disposal cost.

Input definitions and supported units

  • Returned units: Whole-number count, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Restock share (%): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 100; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Repairable share (%): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 100; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Recoverable value per saleable unit: Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Repair cost per repairable unit: Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
  • Disposal cost per remaining unit: Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.

Worked example with answer

100 returns split 60% restock, 25% repair and 15% disposal. At 20 recoverable value, 5 repair cost and 2 disposal cost, expected net recovery is 1,545 currency.

How to use the results

Shares create expected fractional unit counts, not a sorting instruction for individual units. Recovery is operational value, not automatically recognized revenue.

Results retain full precision internally and display up to four decimal places. Very small nonzero results use scientific notation rather than appearing as zero. Check the labels before comparing values across units.

Limitations and references

Assumes every repairable unit succeeds and recovers the same value. Inspection labor, refunds, shipping, safety restrictions and repair failures are excluded.

The method is a self-contained arithmetic, geometric or explicitly stated mathematical model. There are no imported tariffs, empirical presets or equipment specifications; measured values and allowances must come from your own process.
