Lamination Film Run Length Calculator
How much roll length does one or two-sided lamination consume after gaps, leaders and process loss?
Method, formula and assumptions
Feed length = sheet count x feed length + (sheet count - 1) x inter-sheet gap. Add leader/trailer per web, multiply by consumed webs, then add the entered percentage allowance.
Input definitions and supported units
- Sheet feed length (mm): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 1 to 10000; must be positive.
- Gap between sheets (mm): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 1000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
- Sheets laminated: Whole-number count, from 1 to 1000000; must be positive.
- Separate film webs consumed: Whole-number count, from 1 to 2; must be positive.
- Leader and trailer per web (m): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 10000; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
- Added process allowance (%): Measured or assumed numerical value, from 0 to 500; zero is supported where the stated method permits it.
Worked example with answer
100 sheets fed along 300 mm with 10 mm internal gaps use 30.99 m per web. Add 2 m leader/trailer to get 32.99 m; two webs with 10% allowance require 72.578 m.
How to use the results
The sides field counts physically consumed film webs. The final sheet has no trailing inter-sheet gap in this model.
Results retain full precision internally and display up to four decimal places. Very small nonzero results use scientific notation rather than appearing as zero. Check the labels before comparing values across units.
Limitations and references
Excludes roll-width fit, stretch, splices, machine threading and thermal settings. Confirm actual web routing and supplier roll length.
The method is a self-contained arithmetic, geometric or explicitly stated mathematical model. There are no imported tariffs, empirical presets or equipment specifications; measured values and allowances must come from your own process.
